Students at Malcolm Shabazz High School have been participating in a semester-long zine workshop, and they will be facilitating a zine workshop at Madison Public Library on Saturday, December 7.
Student Reading 1:30pm-2:30m
Zines are small booklets or pamphlets, and are often handmade. They are most often reproduced on a photocopier, and distributed on a relatively small scale. You can make a zine about literally anything you want. For example, do you have some favorite recipes? You could make a cookzine. Do you have some strong beliefs about politics and political issues? You could make a political zine. Great poetry? Make a poetry zine. Shabazz students will talk briefly about the basics of zine making, then help workshop participants make their own zine. The event will be followed by a zine-reading, where Shabazz students will share their work from this semester. For more information, contact Liz Barr, email@example.com
