Traveling Artist-in-Residence

Funding generously provided by the Friends of Madison Public Library supports these artists, allowing them the space, time, and materials necessary to explore the communities in some of our neighborhood libraries through various forms of art-making and creation.


Season of Shadows

at Meadowridge Library

Make messes and play with light at Meadowridge Library! Join Alaura Borealis in building metaphors and cultivating feelings with light boxes, shadow puppets, projectors, movie making, and more. Experiment with shadow art on most Wednesdays this November and December during this youth-focused residency.

Join TetraPAKMAN & friends into this Winter art adventure at South Madison Library, we will build a site specific installation based on reclaimed and repurposed materials, such plastic bottles and containers, mixing our creativity and ideas with abstraction to produce pieces that call for a more sustainable future.

Making Remixed: Exploring Hip-Hop Culture through Making

at Lakeview Library

Come learn about the history, artistry, and creativity that makes up the world’s most popular art form. We’ll be exploring hip-hop culture’s various aspects, or “pillars” including rap, beat making, graffiti, and fashion by creating our own original pieces of hip-hop art! We’ll be learning the basics of lyric writing, beatmaking, logo production, digital media, screen printing and a whole lot more.
