Words Count: A Rantum Scoot Through DARE
December 2016 - January 2017
Carrie Roy explores the Dictionary of American Regional English through sculpture and text, examining regional expressions and usage. For example, after running the Dictionary of American Regional English word list through Faulkner's online works, they estimated 83% of his regional expressions belong to the “Southern” categories, and there were 95 terms that incorporated the word “wood.” A series of sculptures presented a visual reference for this research.
