Door County Through a Painter’s Eyes

December 2023 at Lakeview Library

“The beauty of Dane County is always present from the lakes, marshes, streams and fields. While Madison dominates Dane County, there are many beautiful natural areas that balance the urbanization of the area. One just has to look around to see the beauty that surrounds and is in the city of Madison. Our four seasons create a variety of vistas. A view in summer is very different from the same vantage point in fall or winter. This is a collection of paintings over the last several years of places in Dane County that have captured my eye.” —Nan Zimdars

Artist Statement:

Nan Zimdars derives her greatest pleasure in painting from observing her subject matter and then translating what she sees into a painterly illusion. Her work represents a simultaneous delight in the subject, light and color and the art of painting. The object is to capture a place in a moment of time. Every journey becomes a treasure hunt for the next scene to paint.
