Danika Laine

Central Library Bubbler Room

August 2016

More magic, more kindness! Imagine stepping onto an elevator and finding a miniature bouquet of flowers with a note that reads, "If you've found these, they are for you." A mysterious hashtag on the note leads you to search Instagram, where you discover a stranger has been leaving tiny bouquets all over Madison in an effort to spread kindness and inspire community connections through found art.

Danika Laine founded the For the One Who Finds Me project, consisting of a group of individuals of all ages who create, hashtag, and hide surprise bouquets of flowers for strangers to discover.

During her August residency, Laine invited library visitors of all ages to explore and participate in the theme of random acts of kindness through "found art," including mini flower arrangements, screen prints, letter-writing, and much more. Drawing on her background in both sculpture and Library & Information Science, she supported the creation and documentation of random acts of kindness/art on social media platforms.
