Kim Charles Kay

Someone to Somebody Somewhere

December 2017 - January 2018

As an interdisciplinary artist, Kay’s practice involves installation, photography, sculpture, performance, and painting, with each medium informing the next. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Kay is interested in art-making and objecthood outside of Art History.

This exhibition coincided with the artist’s residency with the Bubbler in which she collaborated with families from the Post Adoption Resource Center (PARC) for a project called “Family is a Form: Made & Remade,” and she worked with youth at a number of Madison Community Centers to design drawings for the Community Art Box Program, which printed vinyl appliqués to cover a number of the city’s utility boxes. The project was sponsored by the Madison Arts Commission.

Kay’s residency culminated in an exhibition titled Someone to Somebody Somewhere in early 2018.
