Artemas Wallace
Desires of Vision
February 2021
In the Fall semester of 2019, Artemas Wallace participated in the Making Justice Urban Bubble semester. Fast forward about one year, and Artemas requested to be placed with the Madison Public Library for his final internship.
Artemasβs internship centered around two areas within the Madison Public Library's structure: the hands-on learning and performing of library Page duties under librarian Liz Amundson, and self expression through the exploration of various art mediums under Media Projects Bubblerarian Rob "Rob Dz" Franklin. Taking on the role of Bubbler & Library Page Intern, Artemas worked for 10 hours per week for 10 weeks and was able to earn his final 1.0 credit to graduate high school through MMSD & Urban League's Foundations Central credit recovery program.
For his final project, Artemas presented a physical and digital art exhibition showcasing autobiographical paintings complete with original music, narration, and lyrics. In his work, combining masks, painting, and video, he dives into why and how things are connected to one another and pulls inspiration from moments in his everyday life.
